High-Efficiency Small Coconut Oil Press
Our coconut oil press incorporates advanced international technology with proprietary R&D to deliver a highly automated, energy-efficient, and stable oil extraction solution. The system integrates automatic temperature control, high-pressure screw pressing, and vacuum filtration to ensure high oil yield, clear oil quality, and simplified operation. With its compact structure and reliable performance, this small coconut oil extraction machine has become the preferred choice for small oil mills, startups, and medium-sized coconut oil processing plants.

Modern Coconut Oil Extraction Methods
Coconut oil extraction has evolved from traditional manual methods to modern mechanized and industrialized processes, significantly improving efficiency, oil yield, and product consistency.
In some regions, traditional methods like boiling coconut meat or natural fermentation of coconut milk are still practiced. However, modern coconut oil extraction technology offers better hygiene control, higher output, and scalable production.
Based on raw materials, production scale, and oil quality requirements, coconut oil extraction methods can be categorized as follows:
1. Dry Processing (Copra Oil Extraction)
Dry processing uses copra (dried coconut meat) as raw material and is currently the most common industrial coconut oil extraction method.
Process Flow:
Copra → Automatic weighing → Magnetic separation → Crushing → Steaming and conditioning → Screw- coconut oil press machine → Oil settling tank → Filtration → Crude coconut oil
Proper steaming and conditioning during pressing are critical.
- Optimal temperature: 91–93°C
- Moisture content: 3–4%
Insufficient temperature reduces oil yield; excessive temperature darkens oil color and degrades cake quality. Post-pressing sedimentation and filtration remove fine particles to ensure oil clarity.
The resulting coconut oil cake can be further processed into animal feed pellets, enhancing overall economic value.
To increase oil yield, solvent extraction may be employed as a secondary processing step.

2. Wet Processing (Fresh Coconut Oil Extraction)
Wet processing uses fresh coconut meat and is commonly applied in the production of virgin or natural coconut oil.
Key steps:
- Dehusking and peeling of ripe coconuts
- Pressing of coconut meat
- Extraction of coconut milk
- Centrifugal separation of oil and water
- Reduction of moisture content to 0.1%–0.2%
Approximately 25 tons of fresh coconut meat yields about 6.8 tons of natural coconut oil. This method also produces valuable byproducts like coconut powder, proteins, carbohydrates, and vitamins, making it suitable for high-value food and cosmetic industries.
3. Solvent Extraction (Supplementary Method)
Solvent extraction primarily serves as a supplementary method to mechanical pressing. After screw pressing, the residual oil content in coconut cake ranges from 14% to 18%. Solvent extraction can further minimize residual oil content, thereby maximizing total oil yield.
This method is recommended for large-scale coconut oil processing plants seeking maximum efficiency.
4. Coconut Oil Refining Process
Crude coconut oil must undergo refining to improve its edibility, shelf life, and appearance.
Refining steps include:
- Degumming (removing phospholipids)
- Neutralization (removing free fatty acids)
- Bleaching (removing pigments)
- Deodorization (removing off-odors and volatile gases)
Refined coconut oil is clear, transparent, and stable, suitable for food, cosmetic, and industrial applications.

Cold Pressed Coconut Oil vs. Refined Coconut Oil
Cold Pressed Coconut Oil
- Extracted from fresh coconut meat
- No high-temperature or chemical processing
- Retains natural aroma, flavor, and nutrients
- Rich in lauric acid and medium-chain fatty acids
- Ideal for health foods and premium markets
Refined Coconut Oil
- Made from copra
- Processed using high-temperature refining
- Colorless and odorless
- Widely used in food processing and industrial applications
Both coconut oils offer distinct advantages; selection depends on market demand and application requirements.
